You've been responsible and told the CPN. The doctor isn't the one experiencing the effects so don't feel you are letting her down. You must do what is best for you. If the doctor has any concerns about the reduction she will contact you. I hope things improve-it's such a rocky road on these meds with precious little contact and support from those prescribing.

I think it's important to feel in control of your medication regime and to understand why meds are being increased and/or supplemented with additional drugs. All too often meds are just piled up with a trial and error approach or they are prescribed on the basis of a broad spectrum antibiotic ie some component of the cocktail may help but we don't know which bit...But see you in 2 months.

    Hi there

I'll post in bits in case same happens

I'm really sorry to hear what you're going through, a panic situation over medications. I've been through it myself, over a period of months, but with different benzos, 2.5mg of xanax

I was on this new MAOI which seems to have been withdrawn called Oryx or something like that back in 1992.

Anyway, I was increasing Xanax which my body soon got used to so was taking without getting any benefit.

To cut long story short, the AD didn't start working till I had come off the benzos. The good news is that coming off was easy! Not a long drawn out process but using a diazepam taper which you should ask about.

It sounds like your doctors are treating you for the short term only

You'll get through this. This is a good forum for support and information. Ian knows more about pills than pharmacists do.

Diazepam taper took about 10 days. Works on the same principal that methodone does to wean users off heroin because it stays in the body longer
