    Uploading larger file attachments

Hello administrators. I have run into a problem when attempting to upload a 2.5MB.mp3 file for attachment. I keep getting an 'upload failed' error message. I've tried all the usual tweaks - changing from enhanced upload, turning off tracking blockers, and even deleting a couple of stored file attachments in case storage was going over the limit(?). I had a word with MyNameIsTerry, who says he has had the same unresolved problem. Any suggestions? (Pertinent and polite only, please ).

I would think it was too big but will have to check.

Thanks for the quick response. The limit for .mp3 says 5.0MB...?

Yeah looks to be set at 5 MB - can you upload a smaller one at all?

    Re: Uploading larger file attachments

I tried severl MP3 files larger than 2mb (one about 4.5mb) and the message it gives is the same as one you get if you attempt a file too large. I seem to recall the old forum told you if a file is too large but this one just gives a bland failure message. I tried a JPG I knew was too large which gave the same rejection message.

It also doesn't take long to fail so it doesn't sound like a time-out issue?

The thing with mp3 files is that, although they can be compressed to reduce size, further compression degrades the quality of the file – not a good thing if the integrity of the sound is lost.

It’s almost as if there’s a file-type acceptance error. But that can’t be the case because smaller .mp3 files upload without glitch. Perhaps the stated 5.0MB .mp3 limit is itself erroneous or the actual file-size limit is set lower than stated… (Terry has PM’d me a similar explanation).

Still not working up to the 5mb limit. I retried the same files and the 3mb uploaded fine this time but the 4.16mb failed.
