(Still) Struggling to swallow pills oops

So despite making huge improvements with my anxieties, the fear of taking pills is still present.
I've been prescribed Some nitrofurantoin(antibiotic capsules)
For a UTI. They're slow release so I assume that means I can't open them.

I won't let me swallow them, and I can't swap them for owt else as nobody gives me a liquid version and I was lucky enough to get these(had to go walk in center as up country without my GP)

My only option in my head right now is to not bother and pray it goes away.
    Not likely lol

Is there anything I can do to make it better or at least not panic? Surely panicking while taking it will just close my throat and I'll choke?

My husband's technique is to put the pill in your mouth while you already have a mouthful of water, so you don't feel them go down.

I've just wasted a pill through trying and crying so might try that technique once I've calmed down x

Re: (Still) Struggling to swallow pills oops

I have swallowing issues due to cancer treatment. Pills are a challenge and I take 8+ 2X a day. I just power through it. The smaller pills I can do two at a time but the big pills I need to place at the back of my tongue, drink and focus and I do fine. It just takes some concentration is all. I have an actual physical issue that makes it difficult. Right now you're hyper-focused on this being an actual physical issue when its really not. Try either the tip BI suggested or what I'm saying... far back of the tongue, tilt your head back and water.

I have a friend, who used to have issues taking tablets due to a throat issues since birth. Whenever he had to take capsules, he would put the table into a mug so he couldn't see it and quickly swallow back a mouthful of water at once so he couldn't tell when it was coming? It can be messy but it worked for him x!
