Thread: Getting worse at math - can this be caused by anxiety?

Question Getting worse at math - can this be caused by anxiety?

Bit of a weird one. For the last 18 months I've been worried that I have a brain tumor. I've been to multiple doctors, who all say I'm fine and don't put me forward for an MRI or anything.

Since I began to worry, I've noticed that I've gradually been getting worse handwriting, and more noticeably I really seem to be struggling with math. Just weird things like small sums that I previously think I'd have been able to do without even thinking about it are now suddenly really difficult for me. I just spent ages trying to work out what 93 - 67 was, for example - which I'm fairly confident shouldn't be even causing me to stop and think.

Can stress etc cause stuff like this?

Perfectly normal with stress. My IQ has taken a massive hit in the last decade.
