    Serum C reactive protein

Hi i had a blood test after having chest pain in Feb. Rang up and was told blood test was normal. Then last night went online for the first time to get a repeat prescription for the beta blocker i take for my ectopic heartbeat. only to se the test results are far from normal! My serum reactive protein which is an inflammatory marker had risen from 2 to 19 and it shopld be less than 5. This was within a year!also esr rate high plus few others. waiting now to see if I can get to speak to a GP to ask. Howver has nayone here had raised levels of this with anxiety. Thought there may be a connection. Obviously I was very anxious at the time.

    Re: Serum C reactive protein

I had exactly the same last year. Sternum chest pain, referred to ED by GP querying endocarditis. Ecg etc were normal so dx with costocondritis.

Elevated CRP means nothing but inflammation - it's not unique to any particular illness or cause.

ESR is such an old test. It's been around for a LONGGG time but again it indicates....... Inflammation. Non specific.

    You've nothing to worry about

    Good luck
