An ENT or oral surgeon is the "right" dr to see. He had several GPs tell him it's nothing, well, until it was distorting the side of his face then they referred him. (His fault too, we don't need referrals to go)
Your dentist is also a good choice.
I do not know how common these tumors are but it happened to my son, which feels like the most random thing in the world.
I bet you're just fine, but get it checked out properly so you can have peace of mind.
