    Parotid gland or something else?

It's been a while since I last posted anything here, been trying hard to get my HA under control but since today its just totally going wrong again. Since I cant find anything online I only get more crazy so I wanted to ask here. I feel a lump on both sides of my cheek near the jaw hook? I wonder if that is normal, to be able to feel that there, whatever it is (gland or not).. also on one side its slightly bigger than the other. Anyone else has this?

Hi sounds like the parotid glands are up for some reason. Do you have any autoimmune activity going on eg. Lupus, Sjorens Syndrome (dry mouth/eyes), Fibromyalgia, CFS etc, as this can cause them to swell

    Thank you for your reply,
I've none of what you described. They are also not visible from the outside but when I rub my cheeks I just feel them and I am not sure if that is normal or not. I'm 28 years old and now terrified of salivary gland cancer..

    Tiatyrah,

This could also be nothing at all. How did you discover these lumps? Were you checking yourself, did you visibly see them, did you experience pain? It's possible they have always been like this but you recently became aware of them.

    Best Wishes.

    NotDeadYet,
My cheek was itchy from the outside, probably because of my hair and then I felt a small bump that moved away, I pressed a bit more and it moved again and so I checked the other cheek and there is the same but a bit smaller. Have no pain and it's not visible from the outside. They do hurt now though because I have been touching them and seeing if it goes away or not. It could be something that has been there for long but I cant find anything on the internet of soft bumps in the cheek. Only cancer of the parotid gland.

The reality here is you incidentally discovered something that for all intents and purposes is most likely normal and made a mountain out of an anthill. You have no idea what you're feeling and we can't tell you. We don't know what you're feeling so how can you be reassured?

Exactly where I was leading with my questions. Tiatyrah, you are creating a story about something that may be entirely false. Ground yourself in the potential that this has always been there and is completely normal.

    Best Wishes.

Thank you both for your replies. Maybe it's just totally normal yes.. I'm just going to let it go, try to. I don't have any symptoms of salivary gland cancer either..

If you continue to be concerned make an appointment with an ENT or Oral surgeon for an evaluation.

My son (29) recently had surgery for a submandibular salivary gland tumor. It was a long drawn out affair and I wish he would have just gone to a specialist right off the bat. It would have saved us all 4 years of hell worrying about it.

If you feel something you thing is new...something not quite normal go to the right dr and get it checked out. It's most likely nothing but if it is something that needs attention it's not going to go away on its own.

Don't go through the hell we went through.
