Do you think it’s worth paying for a full private ultrasound? I’m not saying it will solve the anxiety (it may even make it worse as it depends on the individual and how much they believe the tests and Drs).

Im sometimes getting stabbing pains but mine is mainly very achy and bruised feeling, then this sharp pain when I push on my breast but further down closer to the nipple. I just have this bad feeling the two aren’t connected and it’s not going to be a good outcome. X

I think a private ultrasound costs £500+. I cannot afford that at all!!! But I wish I could! I’m pretty good with believing tests...if I can get them!

Breast cancer isn’t usually associated with pain. More likely to be related to your cycle/hormones. I’m sure everything will be ok! Atleast you’re getting it checked so you can get some closure on it. I wish I could get the same!

Yes i I heard that they can cost that much. I had one at small clinic 2 years ago and think it was £250. In Cambridge. Not sure where you are.

i only say that I struggle to believe them. Even after the dr didn’t seemed concerned I’ve come away convincing myself he didn’t check right, or is being dismissive, doesn’t know what he’s doing or talking about etc.

Mines there no matter where I’m at in my cycle so definitely not linked to that. Even tonight I knocked the boob with the hoover not hard at all and I got the pain. Nipple also feels more tender but it’s also my more sensitive nipple of the two. Have I caused it to be sensitive by poking it to reproduce this pain? Is something else going on? I honestly hate anxiety so much!!

I think if you are really concerned go back and really stress that point. If you feel you can put the breast anxiety to rest from having a scan then it wouldn’t hurt to have one they can do non urgent referrals which take about 8 weeks to be seen. I’m not sure I will believe them if they say nothing is wrong x

Update....during a bad HA day, I emailed my GP begging for a scan on my dimple. 4 days later she replied saying she has referred me for a non-urgent appointment.
Yet I got an appointment for ONE WEEK later!?!
Anyway, the appointment is tomorrow. Followed by my first CBT session the next day.
I hope this is gonna be a new beginning for me 🤞

Hi ... I hope this is a new beginning for you and you can put all this behind you, breast cancer has been one of my on and off phobias and I recently went to my gp with another I’ve got a lump and I’m scared appointment.ove had CBT but for me sometimes rationale just goes out of the window. I told this to my
Gp who then said why don’t you just come to us every six weeks we check you that way you’ll save your self a lot of anxiety and what ifs. My breast are naturally very lumpy so I always confuse myself and panic. Maybe you can suggest this to your doc ? The government guidelines states you should check you breast every month so instead of you doing them get them to do it, this way you’re not feeding your anxiety as you’re still following guidlines just let them check it instead of you, but that does mean hands off in between

Oh wow! Your GP sounds amazing!!!!
I used to be obsessed with lumps...for months and months. But now I think I’m pretty good at identifying them as just lumpy breast tissue! I suppose that only came from practice though...so if I’d let my GP do it for me, I’d have never reached the stage of being able to do it myself without panicking!
But I understand why you’d want to do it that way....and at the height of my anxiety I’d have jumped at that opportunity too!
Maybe let your GP reassure you that everything feels fine, then feel yourself once your home...just to get used to what is normal?!
Unfortunately I moved onto worrying about skin changes rather than lumps. Cos I’m in my mid 30s now, my boobs are changing a lot! And every dimple, stretch mark etc is sending me into panic mode!

My GP is extremely supportive though I’m sure his sick and tired of seeing the sight of me ... Yes that’s the plan, I’m going to go a few times and get to know with them what’s normal and what’s not.Im in my mid 30s as well and not Just my boobs I think a lot is changing within my body and everything little thing sending me in to a panic mode

Good luck limesline. I’m sure it will be a good outcome. I recently saw a breast cancer specialist about my bresst pain and he said always use the palms of your fingers and never the tips. He said I will loads of lumps and freak out if I use the tips as breast tissue is lumpy. Keep us posted xx

Why is it we never feel instant reassurance and relief?!
So, the breast doctor examined me. She could see the dimple and could feel a “ridge” behind it which she said felt like prominent breast tissue and she wouldn’t have been concerned about it had she not been so focused on that area. She warned me that it might need biopsied and sent me for a scan.
The guy who did the scan...well, he scanned my entire boob in under a minute, and didn’t give any extra attention to the area with the dimple and ridge.
He said everything looks normal and sent me on my way.

So yeah....I guess it’s good news, but I feel a bit unsure about it! Maybe it just needs to sink in! I’m full of cold today and my brain is too tired to function properly!

i think it would of shown up if something was there. They are so busy they don’t have time to discuss things properly which doesn’t help with anxiety at all! This may just be a normal part of aging unfortunately but still better than breast cancer. I would say keep an eye on it, any changes go straight back but if no changes it’s now just a normal part of your breast anatomy x
