Promethazine has a half-life of 10-20 hours so you may remain affected for a couple of days and not need to take it every night. Also fluoxetine can slow the rate it's metabolised increasing and prolonging its effects so you might need to reduce the dose.

The tablet should be scored to make it easier to take half. If that isn't enough you will probably be able to break the other half fairly cleanly to bring the dose up to 3/4.

It always does, one way or another.

PDU that is great- I really needed to hear that it gets better. Sometimes it feels like it won’t.

I feel more awake now- and I think they drowsiness is helping my anxiety. Do you think 25mg is a high dose? Or will it be ok? It seems to have pretty much worn off.

    Best wishes,

    Sally

Re: Starting fluoxetine after trying St John’s Wort

I can’t believe I am getting anxious over the sleeping tablet now.

I needed sleep last night - I took the tablet and it worked.

I felt a bit worried this morning that I may be unable to function as I felt so tired but now I am fine.

So instead of anxious trying to find the answer to everything- I am going to be my own guide and say I am ok now- so the sleeping tablet dose is fine. If I need it tomorrow I will take it again.

Sorry I am just getting annoyed with myself.

I have the sensation to need the toilet back and my sleep is better.

I have managed to cope a week without any medication - which last Monday seemed like an impossibility - but I have done it.

If I have got this far then clearly I have what it takes to pull through this and come through the other side x

I was also worried about serotonin syndrome - which I am guessing I would have felt by now having taken the first fluoxetine over 5 hours ago? X
