Palpitations heart racing

Hi everyone, not posted on here for a while, I had a Broomwell ecg at my go surgery on Friday afternoon(Sunday today) it was taken by a nurse and then sent down the phone line for a cardiologist to look at, I was told my results would be back within 2 days, been panicking ever since, even though it’s the weekend do you think I would have heard something if there was a serious problem, sorry getting into a right panic.

Why did you have an ECG? What are you worried about?

feel like I’m constantly getting palpitations and feel quite shaky inside, I do drink a lot of coffee each day which my dr thinks it is what is causing them, suffered with health anxiety for over the last 10 years, I’m 38 years old and worried I have heart disease

Why are you ignoring the obvious then? You drink a lot of coffee, and you have anxiety. Therefore, palpitations and tachycardia are going to be present. Either one would be capable of causing the problem you describe, and you're drinking lots of coffee WITH anxiety. Why would you ignore those things and assume heart disease, seems silly no?

If you suffer from palpitations you deff need to cut out the caffeine. This is like the very first thing that tell you. Caffeine is a stimulant and so does cause an increase in heart rate. Some people are more sensitive to it then others...

If you want them to lessen you gotta follow advice the dr gives you. I wouldn't worry much about the EKG though cause if it was something serious you would know right away.

The specialist told me that if there is a problem with an ECG they will contact you - if you hear nothing, there's no problem.

Also, as others have pointed out - gradually taper yourself off the caffeine completely.
