Is it normal to stop having interests in the things you used to love?

Although thankfully I am coming out the other side now of my anxiety one thing I have noticed is a lack on interest in the things I used to love. I used to hit the gym every day and loved it, had TV shows I was addicted too, used to love running, even damn libido is gone.

Is this normal? Do these return?

No... Usually this is a sign of depression. For some it could be side effects of medication.

    Hey my man

I know that feeling only too well.

Antsy is right when she says depression but even mild depression can zap your motivation even if yous don't feel miserable.

It's just one of them phases what will pass. I used to play online bridge and poker all the time for fun then one day the fascination was gone.

You'll get your mojo back too or whatever you Brits say.

Depression and anxiety are very much linked, so yes it's 'normal' in the grander scheme of things.

I'm thinking yes could be depression but not proper depression, depression linked from anxiety, remove the anxiety and the depression will probably go.

I have MDD (major depressive disorder) and I lost interest in many things so yes sounds like depression to me

I agree with Joe. Whilst it's a major symptom of depression just as being nervous is a major symptom of anxiety you can end up with both to some extent. And there are mixed anxiety & depression disorders anyway.

I always look at it this way - wouldn't you get pissed off and depressed if your everyday is struggling to cope with your feelings and being afraid?

    Mood swings are common too.

You will get your enjoyment back but it may take time. I remember going through periods of not caring if the world around me burned so when my therapist asked what did I enjoy I just sat there blank. She said it was a common reaction to that question.
