    Tapering Trazodone

Hi not sure if these effects are due to tapering g off Trazodone.
Been on 200mg day for two years, now due to IBS issues, my GP has decided to try Amytriptyline. I've tapered off my traz over two weeks. First week dropped to 150mg a night, then second week to 100mg night. Then onto 50mg for three days and then stop and start Amytriptyline immediately. At the beginning of the second week, I have suffered severe gut cramping and diarrhoea two to three times a day. Wondered if it was the withdrawal off Traz accusing it.
    Thanks

Trazodone withdrawal is the most likely cause. Ask your pharmacist or GP about hyoscine butylbromide (Buscopan) to reduce the cramping and loperamide (Imodium) for the diarrhoea.
