light at the end of the tunnel for agoraphbia

    Hi Everyone,

just wanted to share something. i always got told that the best way to get better with agoraphbia is exposture.

I started a 4000 pound job on monday and was so nervous. it did not help being on the hills and so open. Anyways Monday was terrible. i was in and out of my van because i was so restless and could not get a full deep breath(sure you all know what i mean).

tuesday was rather much same just not as bad.....

wednesday was great think i went to van about 3 or four times.

thurdays never went to the van once. Only for screws etc.

goes to show dosent it. I Just thought i would share my story becuase this phobia section needed some good news.

Im not saying im cured or anything but this is a start to get out there, nothing can harm us. you will always breath. you will never calapse or loose control.

i can go to work now without worrying te he.

    take care everyone xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Well done you, the first week and you sound so positive

I suffer from agoraphobia too and find the things I HAVE to do, like going to work, have never been a problem, probably because I do them over and over again. That's the way I'm trying to sort mine out - if at first I dont succeed I try and try until I do I'm not always successful but constant exposure, altho very hard, seems to be my best bet

Good luck for the weeks ahead

    Hi

Thats fab news.....WELL DONE you !!

I have to agree, the thing that helped me recover from Agorophobia was to keep repeating the same thing over and over and over again, no matter how awful you feel the more you do it, the easier it becomes.

Great to hear of your success

    Love

    Andrea

I have had this for many years, I think its proven as I think that if you have been locked up in the house or various places where you are for a long time going out will improve you. I think thats what I get anyway. I can go to pub, local shops an even town but I seem better in the winter months

But I cant shake away awful feelings of anxiety an feeling very edgy at times.

exporsure does really work!! one draw back for me is that am ok for yrs then all of a sudden it hits me real bad, although i still manage (some how )to get my butt to work every one thinks am a heavy drinker with a hangover from hell as i have the grayest of faces and huge black eyes hehe!!! and after years of having relapses i still feel like giving in to it all. but we all know that through all the tears and sheer panic exposure does work. i give a blessing to all xxx
