Climate change must have reversed then because currently it doesn't beat the 1974–1975 Northern Territory bushfires.

Current damage from today's fires are estimated at around 15.6 million acres. Currently the following fires from history beat them:

    1974-1975 Northern Territory bushfires ... 111,000,000 acres
    1974-1975 Western Australia bushfires ... 72,000,000 acres
    1974- 1975 South Australia bushfires ... 42,000,000 acres
    2002 Northern Territory bushfires ... 37,000,000 acres

Still a long way off the monster fires that engulfed Oz in 1974-1975.

    Re: Australian Fires

The main cause for the ferocity of these fires is that the greenies in their wisdom stopped us from doing hazard reduction burns in the cooler months leading up to an increase in fuel for this lot.
The pm is going to change the rules so that we can go back to burning off.
Climate change has nothing to do with it.

    We're OK thanks Scass.
We had a few fires here before Xmas but nothing like the ones burning now.
They're about 2500ks south of us.
You have to feel for those that lost everything though.
Bad part is so far 29 people have been arrested for deliberately lighting the fires.

There’s awful people everywhere. Still, the fact that so many are helping out as well is quite heartwarming- I just hope they get better soon.
