Hi- I'm a 30 year-old female living in New York City. I have panic disorder with a history of agoraphobia. I was completely housebound for 6 months when I was 16 years old. I used to get very severe panic attacks with derealization, and I thankfully haven't had a full-blown panic attack in about 8 years. Despite that, I still avoid certain things in fear of a panic attack, mainly travel. I live in Manhattan, and I have a hard time getting to outer boroughs of NYC (Brooklyn, Queens, etc), especially via subway. I really want to be able to live and travel more freely, but I feel stuck. I'm in therapy (psychodynamic modality, which I find very helpful) and take meds, but this is one hurdle I've been having trouble with. Any advice? Thanks!
