You mean, the disease with a 0.1% mortality rate (influenza) as opposed to the 3.4% of covid-19?

    You're talking garbage, pal.

For the love of Alan if you are finding this more scary than a small healthy level of concern (which is appropriate imo). Then STOP scouring the internet for fuel to feed you fear. Google is never your friend, we all know that, this no different.

If you were to shut your eyes now, and scan your body for a sensation, let's pick a twinge of chest pain for fun, maybe combine it with a slightly fast heart rate, whack it into Google - 5 minutes later you're heart attack city.

20 minutes of googling and wuflu is a distant memory as your heart is surely about to stop any second now.

Looking for constant news and updates about this is the equivalent of poking, prodding, checking and googling for heath reassurance on any issue. You'll make it much bigger and scarier.

Go outside for a walk and you'll see everything just going on as usual. Get on with things as normal. Anything you need to know you'll find out without being glued to the media. One BBC broadcast a day will be more than sufficient.

Wash your hands and live your life. Anything else is bonkers.

Well said, Groundhog! Seriously that comment should be required reading for anyone entering the thread.

Fishman65, hope all is well with your dad's appointment tomorrow.

So I have read an article of a british expat in China who caught Covid-19 in November?!
So if he caught it in November how long has this been circulating?
    Now I’m really confused?!?

Lost somewhere either here on another forum, I'm pretty sure I read a comment that there was talk of a disease hitherto unseen in China around this time but it attracted little attention then.

I believe it was said to be every £20 note - I can imagine these newer polymer notes are harder to roll up!

Certainly possible but I don't think the virus was identified even by anyone in China until early December when doctors started posting about it online and got their posts censored and arrested.
