We're only talking a couple of months into this. Until the data is compiled, the overall stats are yet to be determined. I stand by what I've been saying all along, I believe this virus has been around forever and mankind, while affected has survived. Science just hadn't advanced to the point to differentiate it from others until now. It's like the recently discovered (2007) type of encephalitis my wife had. Scientists speculate it's been around since mankind existed. The symptoms are nearly identical to what was deemed demonic possession in mid-evil times for goodness sakes and I can attest to her symptoms being that way. It was pure insanity! The resulting physical and cognitive deficits match several accounts of those in institutions and long term care facilities in more recent times.

Common sense people! Just like any other virus.

Sorry to hear about your missus Fish

Yep thats a interesting theory you got, no folk can says yous wrong.

When the Spaniard invaded south America, they killed a lot of peace lovin folk bbut what really ended the incaz and Aztec was disease what the Spaniard brought but had already developed immunity for. Them poor tribes had no body defenses.

I guess that kinda firs in with what you says. Them viruses is always around and will always be a step ahead of us.

So much for them endemetriologists what some folk here speaks so highly of. When a cure is found, if the virus don't disappear of its own, it won't be some schmuck with a fancy job title but a humble but brilliant lil Asian dude workin in a lab somewhere.

I think the both of us is wSting our time here trying to reassure panicky folk what can't stop ingestim panic mongrr media. You just gotta look at the calmer way folk in other countries like Germany France and Japan is behaving

No stox crash as such but the casino is just goin slowly downwards to hell

    Buy a gun lol

Another article...this time a GOOD ONE. This one really helps put it all into perspective - coronavirus itself isn't even that bad - the fear it is causing is having far worse consequences

Currently seeing that the worst-case scenario has been brought down to 100,000 dead in the UK.

For comparison, they projected approx. 60,000 dead with swine flu.

    There were 360.

Anyway my Dad, or 'pop' as lebonvin has it, is still in hossy. The doctors have mentioned the amount of medication he takes and the advice that he needs to drink more water, his kidneys have suffered as a result and I'm assuming this is the site of the infection. Though you have to go hunting for this info with the doctors being so busy. He has to be seen by a physiotherapist before he can go home and social services will be on board in due course. Myself and brother have to be over there tomorrow.

It's funny really because all this is happening at the exact time when I was planning to 'social distance'. The irony...
Hope they can get him sorted and back in the comfort of his own home as soon as poss bless him.

Doing this when you are to be ‘social distancing’ just proves how selfless we are as people when it comes to our family and friends. Putting all our own anxieties to one side as difficult as it is x

Very good, he has a point. It’s almost like admitting defeat though! But then I guess he is right. What more can we do to protect ourselves other than what we’re already doing.

I have read there are at least 4 cases in Lincoln, I read that an hour before I went to Lincoln on Saturday for a few drinks and a bite to eat. I did have a mini panic, on the train I saw one person wearing a mask. Another girl had one on her hand on the platform whilst waiting for the train and she looked around and put it in her bag bless her. In Lincoln, everything was ‘normal’. It was as busy as it always is. We got the train back later on and came back to the local bars in my town. Again, everything was as normal and I managed to relax.

im not on Facebook but my friend showed me that someone from work had put a status on begrudging the fact his daughter had just come back from Northern Italy and she had been told she wasn’t allowed back to work for 2 weeks (she works in a nursery school). He was kicking off and people were saying ‘that’s disgusting’ ‘speak to citizens advice’ blah blah. I thought it was more disgusting that he thought it was disgusting she had been told not to come back to work. It’s attitudes like this that have helped it spread unfortunately.

anyway, I went to the loo in the bar and guess who was in there! Haha it’s unreal really so I guess with ignorance like that then we have no hope to stop any kind of spread and I guess we have to somehow accept the inevitable.

my husbands friend arrived home from Northern Italy on Saturday too. We live in a smallish town with a population of 22k people.

yes I have seen this. I want to say I hope it’s true but I don’t if that makes sense because I still think that’s too many but better than the projected 500,000.

like you say, they wildly overestimated the swine flu pandemic and we just have to hope they have wildly overestimate me this too.

It must be very difficult to keep track of who is posting what, Elen..

I'm glad to hear that we will now have a Government "Disinformation" crackdown.
