    GP completely disgraceful

I’m still undecided whether to make a formal complaint. My GP last week already had upset me by completely dismissing what my specialist at the hospital in London said and I asked to speak to a female doctor.
Whilst talking to for first doctor he recommended I try fluoxetine I had told him I was apprehensive about medications. He then said you had it before in 2008 and then you stopped taking it because you must have felt better. But he wasn’t my GP then I was living somewhere else!
Then I spoke to the female GP today who said I have had one pescription of fluoxetine in 2008 and but we can’t be certain I took the medication as I only had it the once therefore she saw no indication of I’d stopped it because I felt better! This GP the male one has really riled me the wrong way and I’m unsure whether to complain about him or not! That is catestrophic error to give me false information about myself and also to dismiss what my hospital have said! This doctor took it very seriously what my hospital have said and also admitted she didn’t know anything about it as it is a specialised thing. He just 100% outright said “I’m unsure that’s true” really really unhappy with the NHS!!
This new doctor has agreed to be my doctor going forward and said it would be good to see me in a few more weeks.
    Finally someone with sense!

You know what, not all GPs are equal, sadly. I think the type you saw last week, fortunately is a rare occurence though. I think its entirely your choice about what to do, but, If I was you I would think about what you are hoping to gain from the complaint. You have already managed to find a new great GP, and it was only one consulation that the last one made assumptions and only a week ago. You did the right thing and asked to see another GP, and now it seems like you are happy with the situation? (I once moved GPs and made a 'small complaint' in-house at the surgery, but all it produced was an apology 'on behalf of'.) Although your last GP's behaviour was clearly below standard, particularly in dismissing a (presumably) referral and diagnosis from a hospital consultant, there was ultimately no long-term problem caused by it and I suspect that the weeks difference when seeing this new GP would have made no health difference ?! Other people might feel differently, but I quite honestly wouldn't be bothered with spending time on it. Saying all the above - if this last GP concerns you with regarding to 'what might he do/say' with people less able to advocate for themselves, then you are certainly within your right to have your say. SO - errr - your choice lol

Just spotted your edit there carys thought I’d misread things for a moment.

I’m not sure I’m strong enough to go through complaints procedure right now. And if I’ve got a good GP now that’s all that matters. What concerns me is this doctor was directly responsible for the lack of care which led to a patients death just over a year ago it was printed in a coroners report in the paper this week if his lack of competence and how his actions led to the whole practice coming under scrutiny. Don’t know, I mean if he’s fabricating details like he did for me and the new female gp aired on the side of caution I’m unsure. But just feels unfair you can’t just ring make a comment if a complaint but rather have to go through a whole complaints procedure. I’ll bring it up again with my cbt lady on Wednesday reminds me I need to do my homework for her xx

Oh my word, well, thats kind of different........hmmmm, gosh. You could not do an 'official complaint' but like I did alert the practice to the event ?

How do I do that because I do feel I should be heard about what I experienced and imagine if something worse happened in the future

    Email the practice manager.

Not sure what edit I made - did I make one?
