Hi I’ve been bleeding quite regularly for months and now have been referred for a sigmoidoscopy, I’m honestly petrified. I called my surgery and they don’t know when I will get the appointment considering what’s happening with the Coronavirus.

I honestly don’t know what to do anymore, I feel so down. I’m honestly so done with seeing blood on stool and when I wipe. This has been ongoing for several months. I’ve been doctors and they referred me for sigmoidoscopy which I don’t think will be happening considering what’s happening due to the Coronavirus. What should I do? I called up my surgery and they said I should expect a call back to make an appointment but they don’t know how long it will take because of what’s happening with the virus.

Oh sorry, I think In my frustration I Posted everywhere
Hey sorry to hear your going through this I know a thing or two about this condition despite not having it myself.
Few things first if your able to carry on your daily activities and it only happens when you have a bowel movement that a good sign. If it happens to be blood and clots alone and no bowel movement it can be worrying but if it’s new head to a and e. If the bleeding it’s heavy and continuous and your starting to pass out you may need to check your haemoglobin ( a and e again) and if it’s so bad and pouring without being on a toilet and you become unresponsive ensure someone is with you at all times because you will need urgent medical attention.
Normally rectal bleeds are harmless and there are a million reasons why they occur. In my case my mum has had a very unfortunate time with PR bleeds and nearly died twice so I genuinely don’t panic when I see blood.
Keep a daily diary and tick off when it bleeds etc that will help with a daily bleed log for colorectal specialist! Good luck!

I was seeing blood on the stool and a few times on the paper like every few weeks for months, since July 2018
I had a rigid sigmoidoscopy and they only saw small piles
I'm still here so I guess it's nothing?

Thank you for replying back everyone. This is honestly driving me insane :(
After a couple of days of no blood, today I see what looks like a tiny blood clot on my stool, I scraped it with a tissue and yes it was blood clotty and also looked really dark. I am not doing great, feel so down a depressed. :(
