    Re: Covid-19 discussion thread

Dr JC's two latest videos (yesterday and today) seem to have a fairly optimistic tone which not only suggests Omicron may be less lethal than previous variants (going on info so far), but also hints that Omicron might even (ironically) be the beginning of the end of this pandemic.

Still nothing gospel or set in stone as yet, but anecdotal evidence so far sounds promising in that respect.

But of course, we still all need to remain vigilant in the meantime.

The advice down here is saying the same and that it may actually kill itself off.

So many mixed messages from different sources though. Still just theories and speculation. Optimists v Pessimists v Realists.

Either its going to become another one of the viruses that cause the common cold, or it will become an evil alien race in the next Dr Who series. 'Dr Who and the Omicrons'.

    Today from the WHO

Most Omicron cases are “mild” and there is no evidence to suggest current vaccines are less effective against the Covid variant, according to a World Health Organisation official.

The WHO has slammed countries for placing the “heavy burden” of travel restrictions on people based on the new variant, which early research suggests is either mild or asymptomatic.
An anonymous WHO official speaking ahead of the agency’s official release of its findings this week told Reuters that preliminary indications suggest most cases are “mild”, and that there have been no reports of severe illness.

How have we missed this? The guy we always see from WHO is even called Tedros. Offspring of Davros?

I'll bet. I've not even tried yet. Opening the floodgates to a massive group of people with no provision. Sure, walk in centres will have an army but normal book in centres won't. My closest wouldn't allow it due to size restrictions alone.
