I wouldn't judge a jump by one day. The same happened last week and then it started reducing again. But the trend does show the steep initial drops are slowing down.

Numbers are a few days behind due to reporting delays. If you watch them over a couple of days you see the most recent ones increase. The question is always about trend and so far it's downward.

NI has been hit more recently so will be adding some extra numbers.

Hospitalisations have slowed down in the last week and now the trend is downward.

The next question will be the impact of unlocking. With Wales unlocking earlier than expected and Scotland due to follow the same will apply, to a lesser extent, as Delta will still be around but luckily numbers are much lower now.

    Decreasing nicely around here.
    I wouldn't necessarily judge a single day's increase either.

Both Wednesdays and Thursdays over recent months for some reason tend to show increases in recorded cases, then tend to drop off again over the Friday-Sunday period, and lately Mondays and Tuesdays as well.

So I would say that cases in general seem to be stable at the most right now, in spite of it being a fortnight and a half since 19th July.

Having said that, most of the big spikes were already happening prior to then, and by some pot luck were just starting to peter out by said date.

Well this week is the first since mid-May to see a week-on-week decline in ONS Covid cases (apart from in NI).

Well that's me double jabbed. I couldn't bring it forward as yet again there were no appointments every time I looked so I gave up and waited for my 11 week that was booked in.

There were about 15 people waiting before they opened. They had nearly all gone in when I joined the queue and as I got to the doors there were 15 at least behind me. I don't get this because the numbers across the city are pretty poor these days

I guess I need to see what today's numbers are. On Saturday they only did 27 first jabs so we will be lucky to hit 80%. Second jabs are catching up and happen in the hundreds daily but it just seems weird looking at how busy my place was today because at the rate they were going they would go though more than the whole city records.

Not even a stinging arm this time. I even got a sticker! In fact I got one off the lady at the door too She walked past me and said hello when I was sitting on a nearby wall. She asked if I was ok as I've hurt my back so was struggling with a walking stick. Nice lady.

Lateral flow tests were being conducted just like the first time.

    Re: Covid-19 discussion thread

Although the 7-day average for both cases and deaths has edged up very slightly over the past week, the much-feared 100k+ cases per day are still (by a long way) yet to materialise (25k dashboard cases today), despite it now being 3 weeks to this very day since 'Freedom Day' in England on 19th July.

BTW, the (double-jabbed) couple we know who both caught Covid over a fortnight ago are now both fully recovered, which is a great relief.

Surely me and my dad must have had 'phantom' Covid or 'Covid-lite' up until about a week ago, as we both had the typical Delta symptoms, in spite of me taking about 3 LFTs in the space of about a week and still testing negative.
A real mystery, but we're both stacks better now.

Excellent news Terry! I never got a sticker, but I did get a chocolate bar when I got my flu jab last year so I shouldn't complain.

    Glad you're all better Lenco.
