Yes it is..but pointless to get angry about it. There are no prizes for doing what you're advised to do other than knowledge that you've done all you can and were very unlucky.

Well, I've just come back from a restaurant with some of my family. It was indoors, quite busy and I can't say I was comfortable with it. The food was *excellent*, but that may be of little comfort.
However, mindful of what we've been discussing here, I learned some time ago that my sister had Covid over Christmas: I didn't realise she'd already lost her sense of taste/smell when we were all having our Christmas dinner...
Interesting point, PM. I truly think there are so many of us that have been exposed many, many times over at this point. Especially considering some are asymptomatic, or those afraid of being shamed for having it hiding their milder symptoms and spreading it to others. I have a feeling that’s happened far more than we think. And maybe that’s the key. Between vaccinations and repeated exposures to hopefully low levels of the virus, we keep extending antibodies. I’m no scientist so maybe that’s not how it works at all. Makes sense in my brain though lol.
Crikey PM its that kind of discovery that gives us a belated shiver. And your immune system would have been naive at the time.
However rather like glassgirl suggests, perhaps you did become infected but were an asymptomatic case? 1 in 3 of us are apparently. Who knows?
Son is a little better today, though exhausted and just wants to sleep.

Well, quite... the thing is, around the end of 2019/ beginning of 2020 I had a really bad chest infection - I spent several days in bed sweating and I coughed like I'd never coughed before. Now, that could easily have been one of the other coronaviruses that exist, like OC43 (which was in circulation in 2019, I believe) - but... what if it was in fact a case of Covid? I very much doubt it though. Only a blood antibody test will prove it.
Either way, I am still sticking to keeping myself well away from others and after two restaurant visits I shall be counting the days looking for symptoms. Meanwhile, my nephew - a teacher - is in isolation after he contracted it, I assume from one of his pupils.
To quote the stickers some moron has been sticking up around work "don't say 'asymptomatic', say 'healthy' ".
At the moment I am greatly worried about my forty year old nephew, who's asthmatic: he's contracted Covid and last night he was struggling with his breathing: his O2 level fell below 90% but 111 didn't seem too worried - he called them but didn't get a reply until some six and a half hours later. Luckily he was able to call his brother-in-law for advice, who's a paramedic.
Yes, he has been vaccinated.
Hopefully this is just a one-off and he'll start getting better but by God, I'm frightened - and I'm really not in the mood for dealing with berks on this forum and their views on vaccination and Covid right now.
How is he doing today, PM? Will send positive thoughts that he improves soon!
I'm so sorry to hear that PM. I do hope everything turns out ok. Will keep your nephew and yourself in my thoughts.

I hope he's soon a lot more comfortable with his breathing too. No need to deal with what others think here, PM. The most important thing is your nephew's recovery.
