Even so, plod in general nowadays seem to be between a rock and a hard place.

One minute they're far too lenient towards rule-breakers and criminals in general, then the next minute they're being branded 'fascists' simply for politely requesting members of the general public to move on and people then harping on about past events involving police brutality and harassment in places like Brixton back in the 70s and 80s, even White people, when some of whom doing the moaning right now probably still weren't even born!

UPDATE: So 8 days out from testing positive, the kids are starting to come around a little. Still can't smell but are getting a little taste back. Still coughing and achy etc. but things are improving. Both are knackered very easily but that is apparently a common side effect that can last a while. They can end isolation the end of the week. One day at a time....

    That sounds promising, FMP.

    Wishing them a speedy recovery.

The UK govt have finally got their act together and added India to the UK's Covid 'red list' of countries, which will commence from this Friday (23rd April). Obviously taken note of Dr JC's concerns, and also those of many others at long last.

Surge testing is to be carried out in all areas of the UK where the Indian variant is currently known to be present over the coming days.

Just a shame that surge testing didn't happen in response to the Kent variant in the areas initially worst affected back in November-December!

The US just opened vaccinations to anyone over the age of 16. Now, if we can only get the people to do it!

    Kudos to them!

Like you suggested, the most difficult task from now on will be trying to convince the younger generations to get the jab, especially given they're the most likely cohort to buy into a lot of the horror stories about vaccines constantly doing the rounds on social media.

Good to hear that they are both getting better albeit gradually, FMP..I suppose their second jabs will have no be delayed now due to their illness? Over here you have to wait a month.

It's not so much a generational/age thing (although it definitely is playing a part as evidenced over Spring break) as much as the extreme political divide concerning the vaccine as well as the virus itself. Guess we'll just have to wait and see how things pan out

Good question about the 2nd jab... they haven't mentioned anything about that.
