That's because it's all about the winning with our leaders - can't have those damned foreigners getting a lead on us. Plus our tax-exile owned newspapers are now wanting payback for getting their men into power.

With PC now much of the 80s/90s comedy would be banned. That's why Ade Edmondson has to appear in straight roles in Eastenders

What about a lot of today's even more non-PC 'gangsta-rap' music, that is littered with endless four-letter expletives and references to gang violence, murder, guns, knives, drugs, sex, misogyny, homophobia, you name it. Yet many people seem to be blase about it and even defend it all in the name of 'free expression', whilst at the same time having hissy fits over popular old films/TV programming from the 70s, 80s and 90s that were mostly considered innocuous at the time of their original productions but condemning them as non-PC today. OK for rappers (even White) to utter the N-word (the racist one that ironically, rhymes with 'trigger') but not OK for the casts of Only Fools And Horses, EastEnders, etc to utter that same word in episodes from say, 1985, viewed from a 2020 perspective.

Also those who get indignant about the songs 'Fairytale Of New York' and 'Baby, It's Cold Outside' pretty much every Christmas these days, which I never recall anyone batting an eyelid over when I was younger.

Smacks of double standards if you ask me.

Whenever I watch Bottom I wonder what the BBC would make of it now? Plenty of domestic violence in it.

But then Little Britain was filmed more recently with blacking up

How would Love Thy Neighbour go these days?
It used to make me LOL.
    British comedy was always good.
