    Poetry Only?

    Hi all...

OK...we've had the art thread (and long may it continue) but how about some poetry if it has'nt been done already?

Anyone willing to give it a go? I'll try when I have the time and energy 'cos I've got a fair amount of stuff written down...

Let us know what you think. It could be about anything you like or whatever bugs you...OCD, PA's, Depression, Phobia's...you name it...

Have a great weekend out there...

wouldnt it be funny if you didnt have a brain
    -------------------------------------------

wouldnt it be funny if you didnt have a brain.
you couldnt do any maths sums.
you wouldnt know which one is the Havant train.
    you couldnt write or read.
trying to potty train a brainless dog would be a pain.
    you couldnt learn to draw.
At a victorian school you would be hit with the cain.
You would never remember your keys.
    You would never find fame.
wouldnt it be funny if you didnt have a brain.

    Re: Poetry Only?

I dont normally reveal stuff about myself but this a poem I wrote 7 years ago when no-one would listen. It keeps me inspired to continue in life and belief in myself and find peace and happiness.

    My Journey

    Begging, pleading, praying for help
    Someone to understand
Husband, family, doctor, in fact anyone
But they all considered me mad.

It took a long time to realise
That only one person could help
Someone who had been with me all along
That special person deep inside, was me.

Some people say “Its alright for you
You have a husband, a great family”
    But thats not the answer
    How could I love them
    I didn't love me.

    Self hate destroys
What's the point of going on
What man can love a woman who lies in a corner
    Clutching teddy bears
    Unwashed, not dressed
I longed to hear him say “Are you OK?”
But what I got was “Where's my tea?”

It was love, support, friendship I needed the most
So off to a day centre I had to go
My turning point, the beginning of my journey
    A long and difficult trek
I know I will soon reach my destination, I can see the light
    Freedom at last.

Black days were my days, but things have now changed
Enjoyment comes every day, each day has a purpose
Life is for living not just for surviving
I am here for a reason and I deserve the best.

As I write this my child enters the room
    Her little face gleaming
    Eyes bright, smile beaming
“Mummy” she shouts, “I love you”
    That means everything to me
We have a special bond, unconditional love.

    Many thanks Darkangel...

Just the sort of thing I was hoping for.
Difficulties and pain, but through it all you gain...
And come on through to the other side with hope and optimism.

Mirry...really liked your daughter's poem (now why can't I write like that?)

I agree that the post should be as light and cheerful as possible, but poetry can have the ability to heal and it might be good for some of us to 'get it out there' so to speak, as long as it's not too extreme...

    All the best

Oops...I didn't realise there was a website page also. My apologies.
    Please excuse the oversight...

Allan - it is fine - I was just saying that I can add the poems to there from here if people want to.

It is not a problem having this thread at all.

I agree, there are some truely inspirational poems on it Allan, well worth a look. Think this thread though gives people a chance to comment too.

Through all the pain and darkness, there is a faint glimmer of light, we just need to believe

    Re: Poetry Only?

    people walking every where
    different faces without a care
    living life as they should
    never doubting if they could

hope they never get to know
    how easy it is
    for it to go
    here today
    gone tommorow
    leaving them
    in lots of sorrow.
