Even water is making me feel tight in the throat. I really am thinking it must be something serious

All your symptoms sound like anxiety to me. it is a vicious circle as the more you worry about your symptoms, the worse the anxiety gets and in turn the symptoms get worse! You need to try and break the cycle.

    Re: Gastritis? Or worse?

Hi Charlie, as you know I have had similar problems with my stomach for 12 or so weeks. So much so that I have now got some puffiness in my feet. My breathlessness was quite bad yesterday and the irritating feeling in my throat, like walking into a room where deodorant had been sprayed, kept making me cough. I took myself to A&E convinced I was about to have something absolutely dreadful happened. My heart was checked with an ecg and bloods, which were clear. I had a blood clot test done, again clear. All my sats were good. In fact, on the second time of doing them, I had the breathing throat thing and my oxygen level was 98. Apart from a small amount of blood in my urine, which i was aware of, I was okay to leave. The A&E dr said to get a camera up and down just to check nothing sinister is going on. I don’t think there is and mentioned the 4 courses of antibiotics that I had in a short period of time, which he dismissed. My tummy was okay until I started them in all honesty. But I did have a very bad bout if something, sinus, congestion, aching, hot and shiver spells. GP said could be Covid. I had two tests, both negative, but if not taken during a certain time will not show positive, apparently. Who knows.

I actually got to see a GP today face to face. I told her about the A&E trip which she was pleased about as saved her some tests. I showed her images of my stomach fully bloated at its worse Today it was not so bloated as I hadn’t eaten. She was not worried and said it can take some months for an upset to settle after antibiotics or just an upset. I’ve been pressing my tummy today and noted that I was getting the throat feeling, though not as harsh. I’ve hardly coughed today too. She said that my lungs were cleared on a chest x Ray and the sats good so most probably the issue is gastric. My missus who has a hernia has said this all along. If she does not take medication she gets the cough and throat issues along with bloating and pain. Not sure what your diet is like but maybe worth looking at gut friendly diets. I know certain foods can aggravate a flora imbalance, if it’s that. Only a suggestion. Good luck Charlie and I hope to hear that you start to feel better.

Please can someone help me. When I eat, it feels like my throat is closing up and I'm being strangled. I can't cope with this. I feel this is going to be to kill me. I don't know whether to go to hospital. This is terrifying. Haven't seen my Dr but she said over the phone it's anxiety. How can anxiety make me feel like my throat is closing up? I don't want to die. I feel as though all of my symptoms are being over looked because I have anxiety.

I've just looked through previous threads of mine and it seemed I had similar when I was pregnant in 2017. It's clearly not related to pregnancy in my case and it must have resolved itself. What an awful awful symptom. What causes it? I don't want to eat anymore but I've already lost weight from this entire episode from the end of March and I'm small, even when I'm "healthy"!

I've figured that of I had it in pregnancy, it was pressure from the baby so now there must be a tumour or something in my stomach recreating the same sensation.

Charlie, having spent yet another night at A&E it was confirmed that I am full of gas. I also have a more pressing problem thh G at I’m retaining water, peeing blood and protein, though kidney function is good. Quite possible that it’s the bladder infection that’s crept to kidney. Anyway to you. Get some charcoal powder. Add to water and drink. Get some celery seed. Add to boiled water bc and drink like BBC a tea. Drink veg juices. Take peppermint tincture with warm water before bed and take bc a good probiotic before bed. Give it 2 weeks and see if things improve. Good luck Charlie.

    Hi

This is just a courtesy reply to let you know that your post was moved from its original place to a sub-forum that is more relevant to your problem.

This is nothing personal - it just enables us to keep posts about the same problems in the relevant forums so other members with any experience with the issues can find them more easily.

I'm sorry to hear that you were back in a & e. I suppose it is reassuring for you that you've been throughly checked out. Have you been put in antibiotics?
I now seem to be experiencing a tightness on one side of my face so I really am thinking there is something sinister going on in my neck etc. I didn't eat yesterday as I cant stand the feeling of tightness in my throat when I do eat. I feel anxious at the very thought and my partner is at his wits end with me.
Just had a cup of coffee and the tightness is worse than ever. It must be a blockage in my throat and is being aggravated by food and drink.

No antibiotics. I think these are the things that have caused the bloating. The charcoal has worked well, in fact I’ve not experienced any breathing issues or that funny sensation in my throat. My issue now is I’m peeing blood and protein, which needs to be looked into. The kidney function was fine as was the liver. Had it not been, I would have been kept in. When I was triage I was told that I was probably in heart failure. It’s amazing how one is able to compose them self. Panic inside yes. Lucky for me, and I can only think that someone above was looking after me, as I was directed to the urgent department in A&E I bumped into my cardio man. He asked what the hell I was doing and said that he would ensure specific tests were done. He didn’t believe that I was in heart failure. He called me in prior to the A&E dr and said my chest c Ray was clear and cardiac tests was too. He said something else was going on and did ask if I’ve had Covid symptoms. I said yes back in March but have had two negative tests. I know people that have also had the same as well as medical people that have now received negative antibody results who were convinced they had it. That says to me that there were other bugs going around back then. I am worried deeply that I may have had Covid and it’s attacking my kidneys. My step daughter is a paramedic and said believe me, you can tell people that have it bad. If I had it it was mild and shouldn’t cause a problem. My missus has had no real symptoms either apart from some nerve pain which she puts down to an old injury and hay fever issues which she gets every year. Who knows! I am waiting for a camera into my bladder this week and will probably request a referral to a kidney specialist that I saw after the heart attack. Fortunately I have private medical insurance which I can call on to speed things up if needed. From what you bc are saying, I think you have gastric issue which is being made worse by anxiety as you mention the throat tightness which is a common problem. Please try the charcoal powder or tablets to see if this eliminates your bloating. Though not gone, mine has reduced a lot and I’m comfortable. It’s also not making any noise either. How many courses of sntibiotics have you taken recently? If quite a few and you are prone to tummy upsets do s simple test to see if you have yeast over growth. First thing in the morning before eating, drinking and smoking - if you do, fill a glass with filtered water. Spit into every 15 minutes for an hour. After the hour, check if any of the spit has dropped. If it has, it’s a sign that you have a lot of yeast in your system. I keep meaning to do this but forget annoyingly. I am happy though with the charcoal and peppermint oil.

Despite my urine being cleared for infection, I know that any infection that spreads to the kidney in Jen can cause problems so not sure if this has happened. Good think for now is they are working! Take care

Thank you. That must have been a terrifying experience to be told that was a potential prognosis! How lucky that your cardiologist was around. Hopefully you will have answers before long and you'll be on the road to recovery very soon.
My throat has been a bit better but I took a valium earlier (something I don't do very often and rarely a full one). The sensation is trying to creep in and is so hard to ignore. I've just managed a 3 and a half mile walk which is the most I've done during lockdown as I've been terrified that I wouldn't be well enough to walk any distance. I was very active and into high intensity fitness before this which has always been a tool for fighting my anxiety. I've read quite a bit of the Claire Weekes book today too which is a really interesting read. I do need to work on my diet. I feel so low most of the time that I can't be bothered with healthy meals. I'm eating what I fancy as my appetite is so up and down. It probably isn't helping my situation one bit!
