Thank you Darksky. The lilac is probably 20 years old now. It's lovely but the suckers are a nuisance, coming up 5 or 6 feet from the base. Most plants are yet to flower.

My sort of thing too darksky.
Instead of rotating our necks fishman, you could rotate the photos, lol.
Or take them in landscape mode.
Or at the very least stop lying down to take the photos. Lazy Fishman.
My beans are getting to gigantic proportions. Not far off being planted out. Here’s the thing….I want to put them in the pot to avoid slugs. I’ve even bought the copper tape. However Mr.D is adamant he wants them in the ground. Can I use the tape on the soil in anyway?
It’s a cruel beast that you feed…..
Ghost…Spillways
Lol darksky, I bet he is.
Same here with my beans.
As for the copper tape, I would wrap it around the Base of the cane sticks, clear of the stem of the plant.
I did this last year and it didn't affect the growth but did the job of keeping the slugs at bay.
Flowers in bloom with one of my favourites, wallflowers...

Right you two, you know what this calls for don't you. Why you!!
As for slugs, well strangely enough I don't have a problem with them. I honestly can't think why...

First two photos are wallflowers, 3rd photo, double headed daff, 4th is mascari and snake head, 5th is aubretia and violas, 6th is pinks and last I think is a white bluebell.
Gardens need squirrels, and Lochend Park in Edinburgh has them.
Those are beautiful Carnation! Things seem very slow to get going up here this year, although with the amount of rain we've had I'd probably be better off giving water plants a go.
