High BP & heart rate at Doctors & now I'm losing my mind :(

    Ok so short version
I was very anxious abt a female issue (which turned out to be fine)
At the doctors office my Bp was 180/80 & 124 pulse. I already know how bad that is.

I've taken bp readings at home before & after apt & all fine averaging arnd 114/77.

It's starting to go up today though. Slightly.

I was feeling great after my apt, even with the high bp reading bc I knew it was just because I was in a state of panic at the office. It's happened before, just not that high of a top number.

However, the doctors nurse called the day after my apt (yesterday), and informed me they were referring me to a primary care doctor bc my bp & pulse were high.

24 hrs later and I'm struggling. Big time. It's a viscous cycle. I worry abt my bp & it goes up.

Has anyone had the large of a leap in BP at the dr office?

I should also add that I had been in the waiting room for over 30 mins, but had just walked in the back and my arm was not at heart level when the nurse took it. Plus, they never retook it.

My husband is telling me to relax, that I'm fine, it was just the panic of being at the office. I wish I could just let it go.

Almost everybody. It's completely normal. Your body is reacting to fear, like it's supposed to. Your husband is right.

Try to stop using language like 'I'm losing my mind'. About what?

What you're experiencing is normal, and you're attaching mental drama to it (again, normal amongst anxiety sufferers).

    You are, quite fine.

Oh, and unless your Doctor tells you to, stop measuring your BP and HR. There's no good outcome to that.

Try to look at your own evidence.....

"I worry about my BP and it goes up"

Well, stop worrying about it then unless told otherwise!

Well what got me anxious was the call from the doctors nurse, which made me think she was worried about it. But the call was the next day. They didnt say a word about it during my visit.

Doctors like to cover all bases. I've been in A&E with tachycardia (36hrs at 120bpm) and even though nothing was found they still had to go through the process to rule out any problems.

They 'know' it was your anxiety, but they have to cover their asses.
