Hot chocolate any good to me with milk (obv. letting cool so it's not hot)? I am starving lol.

Yes, you can drink that. but NO STRAWS. The sucking can reopen it. Also soft pasta is good, jello, soft toast, applesauce. All those are good post extraction.

Re: Dentist tomorrow for extraction :(

I did try the hot chocolate, but decided against it. My partner has gone to fetch some soups and those sports milkshakes (I'm tempting my sporadic-random-IBS-flair here but the taste is worth it). I think once I've done 24-48 hours I won't have to worry too much about the clot.

I thought the dentist told me to use a straw, so at first I did and then my next door neighbor told me not to do that. That poor fella had all his teeth taken out pre-chemo and now that he's in remission they've still not given him his teeth. They now discovered they left a wisdom tooth in so he's under general at hospital to have it removed. He's an old chap, but a warrior. He eats steak with no teeth

    There's always a bright side.

The anxiety has been surprisingly low since coming home. Obv. I'm over worrying a little about post extraction but it's not anxiety.

You folks are awesome for helping me along.

Good to hear that you've survived your tooth ordeal, James.

My son is an expert at self-extraction (sadly) and has taken out 9 teeth so far. Salt water washes at least 5 times a day have kept the excision spot as sterile as possible. A soft diet for a week will help as well with the healing process.

I'd rather not elaborate, Vee. He's going to need extensive restoration work in hospital so not to be recommended.

Oh, wow, okay. I thought it might be a trick of the trade or something.

Damn pulisa. I don't know how he's able to do that, it took the dentist a long time to get this 1 one. I did try self extraction but I couldn't get any movement. Eating warm octail soup, with soft toast and melted cheese for dipping.

Hope your son finds some solace and healing, and ofc hope you're doing ok.

I got this slight concern because now I feel like I'm over heating. Will keep an eye on it, if it's still doing it tomorrow I'll call docs/dentist. But there was no infection present so I can't see it being the start of one.

It is a genuinely horrible thing to have done - barbaric, in a way. But either way, it sounds like you're doing all the right things and you'll be just fine. The main thing is to avoid sucking on the hole that's left behind.

Just remember - back in the late 40s/early 50s it wasn't unknown to have all your teeth removed and be given a set of dentures for your 18th/21st birthday, as my mother was!!

Hope son gets treatment soon. He's waited long enough. Daily struggle, I know, but it will all work out in the end.

Keep rinsing with salt water, James - wound will heal faster.
