ACV takes a few weeks to work. It's been used for centuries. It only feels like it makes it worse because your airways are raw right now.

    Re: Acid reflux

Hi when i took it I could feel the acid coming up to my throat ten times worse . Also I'm pretty sure I have a hiatus hernia not diagnosed though so maybe ACV wouldn't help me . I've looked into it quite a bit and there is mixed reviews some people who have low acid it helps but people with to much it made it worse i can actually hear my acid gurgling in the top of my stomach and when I dont take the meds I get a horrid knawing psin in the same area. I would love to stop the ppi but my acid comes back with a vengeance. Can I ask when u had your symptoms did you feel like you had constant saliva in your mouth i think its called water brash.?

I didn't have that no, but I think it's different for everybody.

One thing I do know for sure though, nothing will suppress stress based reflux. Not in my experience anyway.

There's no immediate danger with reflux so apart from being uncomfortable it might be best to just try and deal with the stress and let the reflux sort itself out over time. Worrying about it is likely sustaining it, and it can takes a few months for your body to normalise after a stressful event.

Are you keeping a food diary? What did you eat yesterday and today?

    Re: Acid reflux

Molly, I have had so many strange issues since getting a UTi in Feb. I’ve been not right since then and my stomach bloated, and still is. Coinciding with Covid, which I may / may not have had and increasing dosage of a trial drug, on and off, from end of Jan to second week of March, that causes havoc with the stomach. On top of this, I had 4 - 5 weeks of antibiotics during a 12 week period, which Joe quite rightly said is like carpet bombing the stomach.

My stomach from the onset was so swollen, make horrendous noises, the smell of stools and wind has been sickening and made me heave. I also getting floating stools in the morning at times which I’m told is usually caused by too much gas.

Burping, has been constant and only starting to settle. I went off food, couldn’t eat and felt sick. This has now gone. If I feel my stomach it’s solid. I have been to A&E complaining that I cannot breathe at times or take a deep breath, especially when laying down. Last night is the first time I could sleep on my right side. I feel as if my neck is swollen and find it hard to swallow. A constant dry cough and irritation like a dust in my throat and a light sour flavour in my mouth. My step daughter who’s a paramedic said the cough was not Covid. Hoarseness, I keep getting that. The odd sore throat and burning chest on the right side. This pain causes more discomfort than when I had a heart attack. I also get a feeling of fullness , not all the time, after eating or drinking. I’ve had two coffees today and felt absolutely full and sick, having to keep burping. I believe caffeine is the worst think you can drink with acid issues. I saw a specialist for the drug trial on Tuesday and he said it could be silent reflux that I’m experiencing and that I may have an ulcer caused by the acid. I’m actuslly getting a taste of blood in my mouth when I wake in the morning. This has caused me severe anxiety to the extent of me worrying that I have all many of diseases - see my posts. It’s destroyed my reputation with my GP, cardio Dr. My missus cannot take much more of my anxiety and left yesterday to stay with her daughter for a week. My boss has said he will keep me on Furlough until Sept to get sorted out. It makes my job untenable as I head the team who are all working. I even phoned the British Liver foundation today and spoke with the nurse about cirrhosis. Seriously, I feel so unwell with this and have no answers. I’m due to have a camera down, maybe next week, as I’m going private on the advice of the Dr due to back log. Just to add, if I burp too, I get a strange peculiar light taste in my mouth. I’m not sure if it’s acid that’s causing my issues, my missus thinks it is. If it is, boy i couldn’t never believe that I would feel so rough so I can understand where you’re coming from.

I’m also going to have a hydrogen blow test which I believe can identify if I have SIBO.

Hi there sorry you are suffering so bad it is awful and I know exactly how bad and anxious you feel. I was on antibiotics too a few weeks before this all kicked off but I wasn't eating and had terrible bout of stress and on diazepam which seemingly can csuse reflux. I wish I had all the answers but I just don't im terrified all the time . I am sorry about your wife I can imagine it wasn't easy for her either as my partner gets frustrating with me too but mostly tries his best .I hope we can get this all sorted soon and move on with our lives xx

    Re: Acid reflux

I hope so Molly. Are you getting bloating?

Assuming I have nothing serious going on, I think my issues have been caused by the antibiotics and the increase of the trial drug. I must add, this drug is on the general market so not really a trial drug it’s a trial for people that have had a cardiac event. If you read some of the side effects it all relates to the GI. The team will not accept this being the issue as it would be out of my system now, but it may have caused some damage that’s slowly repairing! Drugs called semaglutide.

I found Gaviston eased the burning and when I take it now it burns my throat which is probably very irritated. Not sure where you are but trying to get to see a GP here is horrendous. They just want to talk on the phone.

I hope that you start to feel better.

    Take care
