Sudden cardiac death and panic attacks/heart rate worries

    Hi,

I suffer from severe health anxiety mainly around heart worries. I am worried panic attacks can cause sudden cardiac death. Stupidly I googled this and I saw some articles come up saying that severe panic attacks can possibly lead to sudden cardiac death by causing heart rhythm abnormalities etc. I am extremely concerned about this. Is this true?

My heart rate gets extremely high when I have panic attacks and so it makes me think this could be likely.

This is really just a lesson at how stupid it is to Google.

No, it's not true. Unless you have serious, serious heart disease in the first place, in which case it STILL wouldn't have been the anxiety that was the issue.

Having a fast heart rate from anxiety is not dangerous.

    Stop Googling.

If you suddenly drop dead from sudden cardiac death you won't know it even happened. Don't worry about it. Focus on the time here rather than something that hasn't and isn't likely to happen.

The heart can handle going really fast, it’s part of its job. It also does it when we are exercising or need to move quickly.

There would have to be serious (something that would of let itself known) issues with the heart to be so negatively effected by doing something that it’s designed to to.

If your heart rate gets extremely high during panic attacks that's actually a good sign. It means that your body is working the way it should be

    1. The heart is designed to to go fast. otherwise how would we be able to run away from drooling tigers? 2. A panic attack is not life threatening unless you happen to whack somebody over the head while you're having one. 3. Dr Google doesn't half talk some shit at times. 4. Learn about the stress response and thank your body for looking out for you because it's doing what it is meant to do - it's just that the 'danger' in your case are your thoughts, not actual danger. The brain doesn't know the difference, see.
