    Lexapro

Is anybody on here taking this? I took my first tablet today, and knew exactly when the tablet started working because my face went hot and I felt a bit drunk. It eased after the first hour, but I still feel a bit light headed or dizzy or something and a bit warm.

Hi worrywart! I could share this name too. I haven't taken lexapro, but when I did try sertraline, I had the same feelings. My face even felt like I was moving in slow motion! Very light headed, feeling drunk, upset tummy. All normal

These are fairly typical initial escitalopram side-effects, although they can also be triggered by anxiety about taking the med. Serotonin isn't just a brain neurotransmitter. It has many roles in the body and AD triggered increased serotonin activity may disrupt these other functions for a while until bio-feedback mechanism kick-in and reduce serotonin synthesis and expression. While they can sometimes be unpleasant and scary these initial side-effects don't usually indicator physical harm.
