    Urine sample

Hi, what can a doctor or nurse in a doctors surgery Check for in a urine sample without sending it away to a laboratory?

I believe they can do a dip test that will show if electrolytes are present that may indicate an infection and IIRC they can test for glucose too, but for infections it's normal to send it away for a culture which usually takes 48 hours. I've just had one done, you see.

Not sure if the dip test also tests for blood.
