    Nowhere is safe to be!

My uncle had been in hospital for 8 weeks and was diagnosed with Covid a week ago today. I just got the call to say he died this afternoon in hospital.

He obviously contracted it in hospital and his wife only went to see him a couple of times and she has been tested negative last week so he must have caught it in hospital from staff or other patients.

So sad that he went in for something else wrong with him and Covid kills him off.

My mum is devastated as you can imagine and it is just so unfair for him to die this way.

Nic, this is terrible news. I'm so sorry to hear what your family are suffering during this already hard time. It's the place you expect to be safe so when this happens it must make you feel so powerless to protect loved ones. It must seek so unfair to go in for something and this happens.

You know we are all here for you if you need us. I hope you and your family have plenty of support around you to come to terms with his passing.

Very sorry to hear this, thoughts to you and yours.

Unfortunately hospitals are breeding grounds for this type of thing and it’s one of the main reasons why so many operations have been put off etc.

My local infirmary in Glasgow now only has two wards in the whole hospital that are deemed Covid free, and even then, due to a lack of staff, nurses and doctors are still being moved around wards freely.

It really does hit home the need to have a vaccine and get it to healthcare staff as a matter of urgency. Again, sorry for your loss.

Thank you all so much for the kindness

My sister lives near my mum and has gone to be with her as I am too far away to just "pop round". On top of that I have to work tonight and can't change that at such short notice.

It has all come as a bit of a shock really as he was due to be moved to a specialist covid home today to recover before returning home next week so we were not expecting it to end up like this.

I'm so sorry Nic. We also lost a member of our family to Covid, and it makes the grieving process that much worse. But you and your family will get through this. I'm sending you good thoughts and strength. Take care of you. My PM is always open if you need to talk.
