    Wired's Daily Watch

I love to watch a good documentary. I watch all sorts of topics. Every day I'm going to share an interesting documentary that resonates with me

Today's video is called: The Toxic World of Self Help: Hustle Culture, Toxic Positivity, Addiction, and Fake Gurus. The title speaks for itself. I've been caught by this trap in my early years working in marketing. I spent so much money on self help guides, courses, 1-to-1 tuition. Still got a box here that contains bound self help books from an apparent "guru". The thing cost me almost £4,000. I only keep it around because I can't bear to put that much money in the bin.

    Hope you all enjoy.

Today's video is on the iPhone 12 and how Apple have made it impossible for repair companies to repair a broken camera thus forcing you to upgrade your phone once it's past it's warranty period. It's not just the camera, they stop you replacing other parts of the phone. Any attempt to do so will leave the phone unstable. People have purchased two identically iPhone 12's brand new, replace one part of the phone by swapping the hardware, and the phone refused to work. This has caused anger, especially among the repair community. The author of this video does a lot of videos on these topics, and is also an Apple repair engineer.

    Enjoy

And this is the video on the two iPhone 12's where he done the replacement experiment (different youtuber author):

And yet it's Bill Gates who gets all the stick whilst people bill and coo over anything Apple - whom I observe have settled a multi-million dollar class action brought in the US over "Batterygate".

    I'll stick with Samsung, ta.

Samsung for me too. Although ditching removeable batteries is a way to do the same.

Apple fanboys are strange to me. Some of the parts aren't even from Apple but the very competitors they rubbish.

I think Samsung are starting to copy what Apple are doing. Can't confirm, but I've heard Louis Rossman talk about it (the Apple repair guy above).
