Re: Fear that I'm going to stop breathing
Hi Katie,
How many times have you stopped breathing?
I'm trying to address your fear that you're going to stop breathing..
I'm presuming the answer to my question is 0?
So this is a 'sensation' of tightness in the chest? If so, it's a very common anxiety symptom, but I also had it when I was taking medications.
I was put on beta-blockers after a major panic attack and before the side-effects became too much for me (chemical sensitivity) I also struggled with the change to my heart rate from consistently fast to slow. That, in itself, made me anxious but the medication was preventing a full blown panic attack - so I was in this constant state of feeling 'wired' and agitated with chest tightness and muscle tension- especially in my jaw.
I should imagine that these side-effects with you will eventually ease off?
You can help yourself by trying to breathe properly when you wake up feeling anxious.
You won't stop breathing..
