To be honest, I want to Jam. It's a toss up between that,an MPC 1000 from eBay or an octatrack MK2 (likely never get that one it's too expensive lol). I am more productive on an MPC but since using Renoise I've gotten used to the tracker workflow. Elektron products are the sh**. I had the octatrack and it was rock solid. I didn't like the plastic buttons, felt awful to tap, but solid box non the less. Need to get a pre amp first for mic.
And Macbooks are awful these days. Good for browsing, and my bro runs Fruity Loops from his and Nexus without problems. But they are overpriced pieces of metal that you can't upgrade. It all went to s**t when Jobs died. I was a fanboy, and as mentioned before had a business account with them when I was doing well. The not being able to upgrade is forcing people to buy a newer model and that business model stinks. It's a real shame apple went that way. Putting their mac pros in a tiny box was a silly move too making it non upgradable with stock parts.
I haven't seen the Mac pro 7,1 in action but that does look beastly. Have no idea on the tech specs though. I should read up.
Enjoy the Macbook though, it does feel so nice to sit back and relax on a brand spanking new macbook I bet you're already on the app store clicking "buy, I need this, I might use this so I'll get it, and this looks shiny lets have that too". That was me ha ha.
If you haven't already, download SonicPi. You use code to write music. It's genius mate. Kid friendly, so you can pick it up.
