    Do a creative activity

OK OK, we have to cut back or outlaw our favourite food and drink BUT

make the best of any creative hobby you may have, or maybe get started in one.

It will help distract your mind from all those ugly symptoms and is relaxing. Painting, drawing, photography, designing are just some examples - there are others. They can be a great therapy.

Don't worry if you think you're not very good, many of us will have plenty of time to practice given the stories that are on the forums!

Show your work to others and aim for something to be proud of. The positive feedback can work wonders. If photography is your thing, there are various websites where you can post your images and invite feedback - such as www.pbase.com

All these activities can be done indoors, so if you feel you are trapped in the house, it will be a relief.

Remember, being distracted from your suffering by doing something you enjoy can be pretty effective.

I for one am an extreme gardener. [:P]

A waterfall, kids playhouse, stream, pond and planting are just some of the things I have done to keep me busy.

I colour in, draw, design web pages, write poems and re-string broken wind chimes.

Ah the things you do to keep your mind busy ! [^]

Hi Ray, I totally agree with you there. Doing something you enjoy is a great cure in itself.
I am now a keen golfer , A mind over matter game they say which diverts the mind on concentrating on hitting the ball right rather than concentrating on anxiety problems. It works well esspecially when i do manage to hit the ball probably, the rest of the time i spend wondering why i cant hit it, but it works!, take care and good luck, Chrisx

    Hello Ray,

Well said there. I agree with you. I have just finished a quilt. I am starting the next very soon. I also enjoy reading, working puzzles, crafts, and painting my crafts.I also love to garden, but the season is almost over for me. An don't forget your cross stitching , thats a great way to pass time.

So come people lets get moving.Well pay for those Xmas cards, you can make them, paper, markers, stampers, glue and you are on your way.

Also baking helps me alot, not good for the diet but oh well.

I see the distraction method wrks well for alot of people, just wish I had the motivation to do anything!

My current distraction is teaching myself dutch (why oh why?!), which is proving a challenge, but I am so proud of myself when I can tell my partner that the cat is under the table in dutch I just get a look of pure confusion from him!

Just trying to think of another cheap hobbie I can take up. Photography is not my strong point, unless I can pass those fuzzy pics as art?!lol

    Hello Sleepylea,

It can be anything hun, as long as you can focus on it. Try some crafts, even if you haven't ever done them. Also what about cooking?? Try new recipes, reading, cross stitch, sewing. Anything that makes you think, will work. Also check out the games , there are some great ones in there.

    Hope those help you some.

    Re: Do a creative activity

I found some gloss paint on Tuesday, I got all excited that I found something to do, I even found something to gloss, then realised I didnt have a brush

I will most definatly look into a long term project (not that long term, I have a very short attention span lol), I may even break out my old pencils and paper, see if I can get back into drawing. The cross stitch or reading is a fab idea... now where did I put the sewing box on my last cleaning mission??

Thanks for the inspiration, I do now have some motivation!
