I get there is a lot of misinformation flying around from people and whilst I agree that looking for reassurance from someone with no medical training is dangerous, I think most of us know when to see a Dr instead of listening to someone's own experiences and assuming what they say is fact for everyone. I have had lots of checks with the cardiologist over the last couple of years, lots of tests, etc. and am now waiting to see a cardiologist again. As we are under the NHS here in the UK, I understand our medical system of testing is somewhat different to that in your country. We don't always get access to the services and the particular specialists we wish, we just have to go on waiting lists....we also get given what tests the Dr deems necessary rather than requesting certain tests ourselves, unless we go private.

Even if your heart is classed as structurally and functually normal, there can still be problems with it, i.e. LV function % can be still classed as normal but be less effectively functioning than others. There is also family history of cardiac problems to take into consideration and medication. Symptoms will also feel different for everyone. What's indicative of this is the fact that some people can feel ectopics whilst others can't. Heart rhythm problems are, as you know, an ECG diagnosis and not a clinical one. I really shouldn't have asked what an SVT feels like because what it feels like to one person, can feel completely different to another.

I understand you are also going through a very anxious time right now but your posts here have utterly terrified me and raised my anxiety considerably these last few days.
Hmmmm, I’m honestly really offended by your response. Truth be told I jumped on this post because I saw a lot of inaccurate information and I’m sorry but inaccurate information is dangerous. My purpose was not to scare anyone. I never said you had VT, that you should be concerned that you do or that your symptoms even sounded related to VT. I’m pretty sure that I said it was unlikely that you did. You know, I was gonna go further but I’m not gonna sit here and try to defend myself when I did nothing wrong. I will make a note to myself to stay clear of any of your posts going forward. You have a good day now.

I'm not surprised you are offended. I felt your responses were very helpful, honest and thoughtful.

Thank you for your kind words ☺️ I try to be helpful when I can.
When responding on this post I was speaking in general. I totally understand that this is an anxiety forum but people with anxiety can also have real arrhythmia’s and for someone to say that VT only happens in people that have heart abnormalities or heart disease is not only inaccurate but dangerous. Misinformation about any kind of health issue can potentially be dangerous. The last thing I want is to cause anyone fear or anxiety but facts are important for anyone who should come across this post in the future.

Your approach was absolutely correct, and it would be irresponsible to reply any other way other than to take into account that some people might have medical conditions. I know that everyone wants to hear 'its your anxiety, you are fine, its nothing' but there have been times on here over the years, with individual posters, where its been in my mind that any reply I make has some personal moral responsibility. (more than anything for other people searching and reading in the future) Honeyskye, I'm sure you understand that some anonymous online poster can't give you a totally clear 'bill of health', but Careful was careful to be clear and try and reassure you to the best of her (?) ability.

Apologies, I’ve just deleted my response to your post. I’ve also found the replies to trigger my anxiety massively.

Nothing I said was medical advice or written as a fact, I know you know that. As always, it was reassurance given to me by my doctors and I passed it on as further reassurance. As I think we all know that we’re here for comforting words due to anxiety whereas we go to actual doctors for diagnosis.

I know I’m more than aware of what things COULD be and I come here to hear the flip side, why it MIGHT NOT be those things. The rational reasons why not to balance out my purely anxious thoughts. When all I can see is why it will absolutely be something serious, it’s comforting to be reminded of why it could also be something minor.

Hope you don’t mind the deleted post, sorry again and hope you are feeling much better x

So all the time I spent the other day in the post you created and have now deleted reassuring you that you didn’t have AFIB and telling you it was likely your anxiety since your anxiety revolves around your heart and how even if by some chance you were having ectopics or any other arrhythmia for that matter that since your cardiac work up was normal you didn’t have to worry, provoked your anxiety?

All I did here in this post was correct misinformation. We can reassure each other without passing around misinformation and let’s be adults for a minute, if what you or whoever is looking for is for someone to just reassure them then how about just say “my anxiety is off the charts, I’m worried about X, I know this fear is irrational so help me talk myself down” not “does this sound like X” or “I am worried about X and I want someone to tell me what they know about X” which by the way is what you did with your AFIB post.

Thank you for your replies, I do appreciate them. I just thought the AFIB thread could trigger anxiety for some people so it was best removed. It’s not the first time I’ve done that. I’ve read the responses, which I appreciate. I just thought it best not to leave up for everyone incase of triggering people. Likewise, I’ve deleted my post here.

Okay, understandable but let’s just point out that you asked specific questions to which I gave specific answers. I gave you facts and reassurance at the same time and so let’s not make it look like I’m popping up on threads trying to scare the crap out of people. I mean how it’s worded here is like you made a post looking for reassurance, I came along and scared the crap out of you and so you deleted the post so that I could not scare anyone else. Do you see how it looks?
It’s like a thread over in another area of the forum where I tried to reassure someone over their cervical cancer fear as I lost my step sister in January to it and I was there every step, cared for her and saw what was happening with my own eyes. I tried to explain to her that her situation was not at all like the situation for someone with late stage cervical cancer but her eyes only saw where I said my step sister had passed away from it and had severe bleeding. She said I scared the crap out of her and so now this its making it look like I purposely come here to scare people for fun or something.
I work in the medical field, I went to school for many many years. I know a lot about a lot and when I comment I try to give facts and reassurance but I’m not gonna lie to accomplish that or speak on things I don’t really know anything about. It may just be better for me to stop commenting on this forum that way no one will feel like I’m provoking their anxiety. I genuinely don’t want to scare anyone and I don’t want to be made to feel like crap for trying to help.

Re: What does SVT feel like?

I like your approach Careful. It's open, honest, sensible and ,to be frank, lacking on this forum at times. We can't always tell people that everything they face is nothing, or might be nothing, that's impossible given the fact that human beings can become ill or face difficulties. Tiptoeing around all the time, doesn't help some - (and I'm being very generic here, not about the OP) to face up to their anxiety. You can reassure and tell people they have nothing endlessly, but how does that help anyone with their anxiety longterm, as at some point , even if old, all of us will face something in regard to our health. It is the skills we learn in dealing with that, and minimising anxiety through the process that is critical. I know it can be painful as a HA sufferer to be challenged about fears, but reassurance can come in many forms e.g. Reassurance that something can be treated and can be lived with is more important than reassurance that nothing will ever be wrong.

You're an asset to this forum, Careful. Don't let people make you feel otherwise. We need you on here.
