Diagnosed with Diverticulitis but Scared of Colon Cancer

Last week I went to the ER because of severe abdominal pain. CT Scan revealed extensive diverticular disease, uncomplicated diverticulitis and adjacent wall thickening. I was given Augmentin and PRN Motrin for a week. The pain is gone but I am so anxious about colon CA. I will have colonoscopy the last week of May and I am scared they might find something.

I think they would have seen something on the scan to be honest.

I'm so sorry to hear about the stress you're going through. Just try to think about the fact you had the scan, got medication and now your pain is gone. That's a very very positive sign and really puts the chances of there being something else there SUPER low. I know your stress, I was tested for IBD and both blood test and stool test came back negative, but I still have to have a colonoscopy due to my symptoms not improving. I've read so many things online about how drs miss stuff with these tests, and it's easy to get caught up in those stories. But remember those stories are very rare occurrences, and if Dr says it's probably not sinister then they are more times than not RIGHT about it.

Ugggghhh... Had that happen to me a couple of years ago. I ended up in the ER too. Then several weeks of two mega antibiotics which turned my stomach into a cement mixer! No fun! And yeah, I was due for a colonoscopy and had it done. All was well and I'm quite sure yours will be too as they would have seen anything suspicious in the scan. Hang in there!
