    Lump middle of neck

Been a long time since I've posted a health related worry here and I am so angry at my self for doing so as my anxiety has been pretty much non-existent for a long time.

I was looking in the mirror and I noticed the middle of my neck has a lump, of course I know this is where the adams apple is but it seems larger on the left side than the right. It moves up and down when I swallow. I don't know how long its been there. Maybe it is just something I have never taken any notice of and my anxiety is making it look worse but I am very concerned that it feels larger on one side.

Has anyone else had anything like this?

I know I know, HA just seems to have hit me from out of no where. I called in sick to work today and I've been googling all morning trying to find images that look similar to my neck.

It moves up and down when I swallow which makes me think it's part of the Adams apple but why would it be larger one side?

How can I have no anxiety for months on end then out that blue it feels like I am back to square one!

Dude... Of course it's your Adam's Apple and we're asymmetrical by nature! You know this! You're having a blip and hyper-focusing on something that's been that way most likely forever. The positive is you recognize it's your HA. Pull from what you've done previously to put the dragon back in his cave and for goodness sakes, stay off Google will ya?!

    Re: Lump middle of neck

So I thought I could beat This flare of HA but sadly it got worse and when I say worse I mean I've hit the worst patch I have ever had.

I had still been worrying about this lump so I tried to get a doctors app but I couldn't so I decided to pop into the pharmacist to get it looked at. I got there and she came out to look at me, she had a look and said "I don't know what that is see a doctor" I asked if it could be a lymph node and she said "no chance, see a doctor"

Hearing that my head went, I passed out, smacking my head on the counter as I went down, I woke up a few seconds later sitting in a chair with all the staff around me, dripping in sweat and I started to cry, they quickly put a curtain around me and 1 staff member sat with me and spoke to me and called me ambulance.

The ambulance arrived and they were good, checked me and said I was fine from the fall and they looked at the lump I was worrying over and felt it, they said they didn't know what it was and as they are paramedics they couldn't say too much but the paramedic did say if she thought it was serious they would take me to hospital right away. I burst into tears again in the back on the ambulance
as I am so worries. The paramedic even managed to get me a doctors app for me as I was so worried an have not been sleeping. She also said the lump is not causing me an problems such as eating, moving etc so said try not worry but go to the docs to put your mind at rest.

I have never felt so bad and I don't understand why it's come on this bad for going so long being fine. I am in a mess at home now panicking that it's something serious.

So the chemist I was in is next door to my docs and I now am worried as to why the paramedic went in to get me the appointment, maybe she was really worried about it and didn't actually want to tell me. I don't think I can even go tomorrow as I may pass out again

    Re: Lump middle of neck

Ok I have been going over what the paramedics said to me regarding the lump.

She said '' If we was very worried about it we would take you to the hospital now'' and they did not.
She also said ''If it is not causing movement issues, swallowing or breathing then try not to worry''

That is what is making me calm what she said.

But then I am worrying that the other paramedic got me a doctors appointment, I think it was because I was so anxious and the other paramedic said ''you need to see a doctor to put your mind at ease'' but what if they were just saying that to keep me calm and really they were very concerned about the lump.

    Re: Lump middle of neck

You need to calm down. I understand what you are doing because I used to do that sort of thing myself. Years ago I was under a specialist who sent me for a breast ultrasound. The ultrasound showed a benign lump. Still my specialist wanted me to go to a breast specialist. His words to me were “not because I think it is anything but so you don’t sue me”. So maybe all of those people faced with your irrational response were just being cautious in what they said in case it came back to bite them in the future. Look at yourself from their perspective. What they see is a person almost out of their mind with worry - crying and fainting over a lump that is probably just something that you have always had. They don’t know you have HA and even if they did it wouldn’t mean they understood anything about it. Most people don’t.
