Lump middle of neck

Hi swajj, thank you for the replies. Yes I have been and just got back and I'm in a mess. The nurse first spoke to me about my anxiety and upped my tablets to 40mg and also gave me sleeping tablets.

Regarding the lump she said she wasn't too concerned but has sent me blood tests and 'urgent' ultrasound!? If she isnt worried why is this 'urgent', she must feels its sinister and could be a cancer or something! She did say she thought it could be a cyst but why the 'urgent' part. I feel absolutely terrible and know this is going to be bad.

Try to put yourself in her shoes and view yourself through her eyes. You come across as teetering on the edge of a total breakdown. My guess is the urgency is more about preventing that from happening than anything else.

That's what I was thinking, I was very upset when I first went in with tears in my eyes and she spoke about my emotions before the feeling the lump. I am in bed now crying, even when my HA was bad a few years back I never done this. I can't get over her saying urgent ultrasound

Agreed, based on the way you spiraled here Shaun, especially after you've done so well, that makes sense. May be time for a refresher in therapy after you get the all clear

The nurse gave me two numbers to call for therapy, right now I can't even think of that. She got me to swallow and saw the lump move up and down and also stick my tounge out and I just googled as to why they do this and it says a duct cyst. She said to me she wasn't concerned, she told me she just didn't know what it was and she mentiones something about my thyroid. She even said thyroid problems can cause anxiety. But urgent ultrasound she obviously thinks it's serious

She’s a nurse, she isn’t a doctor. Why would she even be thinking “I’d better check for a duct cyst”? I have nothing against nurses (my sister-in-law and niece are nurses) they deserve nothing but admiration but they aren’t doctors Shaun.

Would a nurse not know then if it was a duct cyst or anything like that?

She said to me urgent ultrasound and that's when I broke down and cried, she said let me go away and talk to a colleague about the ultrasound and ill see what comes back. I just can't take it any of this in.

I've just had a call back, they have referred me to the Head and neck specialist for TWO WEEKS! She said this is the cancer route but she isnt sending me cause she is worried about cancer, she said she is referring me quicker because it's the first time it's been checked. Something really isn't right here, oh my god it's going to be serious
