Sounds like extreme anxiety. Gotta practice some mindfulness meditation or coping techniques... we can understand your anxiety, but you know it for sure only you can control your mind...and practice makes perfect. I believe we all are battling these constant random pains and symptoms, but the key is to try and keep level, fight on.

It's my appointment tomorrow and I feel so sick with worry. I can now feel little pea sized lumps in my neck, I am convinced it has spread.

So I've just got out my appointment, I was only in there round about 5 minutes, he felt the lump and said he is 99.9% sure it is just a cyst and non cancerous, he did say he would send me for an ultrasound and biopsy at some point but said he would be VERY VERY shocked if it came back bad. He told me before I left "go to the pub, have some food and get some sleep and live your life" my anxiety has got a lot better, but I am still worrying about the ultrasound and biopsy but I will keep telling myself the ent was 99.9% sure it is nothing serious.

So I was diagnosed with a thyroglossal duct cyst but have been asked to go for an ultrasound tomorrow on it, the ent said he is 99.9% sure it's nothing, but now having been booked in for an ultrasound I am really worried again.

Since leaving my appointment on thursday morning I have felt great, no anxiety or anything but now its all back knowing I have an ultrasound tomorrow. Is it normal to have an ultrasound on a cyst, even though the specialist has said it is a cyst?

Would it be to just confirm it?

Dude, seriously. Pull yourself together. The only problem here is your persistent doom and gloom, and I assume hourly Googling of 'what's going to kill me'.

You've been told what it is and they're giving you an ultrasound to have a look at it.

Take this as a lesson for next time, you have driven yourself mad for weeks on end over something benign. You have assumed the worst with no knowledge and panicked yourself to death without any actual concrete evidence anything is wrong.

Your mate is right, just calm down. If you can't, try again. If you still can't, try harder.

    And stop Googling.

Hey Shaun! Sadly I also have experience with this. It's so frightening when you find something completely alien on your body, I've been there and completely understand. Mine dragged on for a few months before my 'urgent referral' - so it's great you've been seen so quickly!

Yes it's VERY normal to have an ultrasound, and a biopsy, on any sort of lump - just so they can be extra, extra, extra sure and confirm what they already know. Mine was so big I had to have surgery to remove it. Again, normal, but in the midst of HA it felt gut-wrencing / terrifying / potentially life-ending! Rest-assured you'll be fine and your cyst will shrink down soon - let us know how the ultrasound went!

Hi, sorry for the slow reply I had a couple. Of weeks off the forum to try and help my anxiety!

The ultrasound went well, the doctor who done it said it was just a cyst and it could shrink on its own or I may need surgery.

I have a follow up call with the ENT tomorrow, this was scheduled before the ultrasound so I've been waiting for about 3 weeks for it now, I was fine up until today, now I'm anxious and worried that the ent will say he has bad news. I keep thinking the doctor who done the ultrasound may have just been saying it wasn't bad so I didn't worry, but if it was bad wouldn't they of got in contact with me sooner? It's been over 2 weeks since the ultrasound now. Is the follow up call normal procedure?

Is a follow up call normal? Even if the doctor at the ultrasound said it was just a cyst? Worried they may have found something else or the ultrasound doctor was just trying to make me stay calm as he saw something sinister.
