I guess it's a bit of an 'institution' of high street stores.

On a similar note, B & Q, whilst traditionally (and predominantly) a DIY/hardware store, is another 'institution' that appears to have stood the test of time whilst other likewise brands (e.g, Texas Homecare, Do It All, Payless, Great Mills, etc) have come and gone over the years.

I think Homebase are still going as the only other store-based alternative to B & Q, even though they upped sticks from my area back around the mid 2010s, and I also think they in turn are a pale shadow of their former selves.

But obviously shopping as we used to know it has (for better or worse) changed dramatically since the 90s, largely due to the Internet.
