Re: Does anybody think that protests are becoming more irrational these days?

Whilst I would hardly consider the current COP 26 protests in Glasgow 'irrational' per se, they and others of more recent times don't appear to carry the same shock value as many did pre-mid-2010s, e.g, the G20 protests in central London back in the spring of 2009, of which some even attempted to liken to the second 'Poll Tax Riots', especially where police brutality was involved, plus also the 'Occupy' movements in the early 2010s.

Perhaps considering there's already been umpteen protests over various issues throughout 2021 alone, we're more desensitised to them and as a consequence probably don't find them as shocking as many of such events prior to the mid-2010s, and think 'ah, just another protest', which sadly dilutes the true impact of crucial events like COP 26.

Also sounds like the 'seen it all before' syndrome (for better or worse).

Seems that the 'Freedom Convoy' truckers' protests in Canada are now spreading to other countries. According to Wikipedia, there's already been FC protests here in the UK but no mention of it on the BBC site so far.

    Sounds like the usual copycat/
bandwagon-jumping syndrome, especially for fifteen minutes of fame and all that.
