My mom has to have a breast biopsy on September 9th. She had an ultrasound today, which was a callback from her screening mammogram, and the doctor decided there was a change from last year's mammogram. He described the change as an area of thickening, 1 cm in size. He said that if my mom were younger (she's 72), he would have called it a fibrocystic change and simply watched it, but since she's older, he wants to biopsy it.

Of course, I'm beside myself. Mom had stage 0 DCIS ("pre-cancer") in 2009 in the opposite breast--had a lumpectomy and took Tamoxifen. I'm praying this is another DCIS or else a benign condition like hyperplapsia.

I know many of the women on this forum have had breast biopsies performed. Have any of you been older (like 60+) and received benign results??
