Just put dog down and need someone to talk too

I just put my dog down and how it happened was very traumatic. I feel like I need someone to talk too if anyone is up for it

Yeah completely, took him vets got a call 2 hours later saying he is riddled in cancer and the fair thing to do is put him down straight away. It had broken me and set my anxiety back off

Oh goodness of course it’s set your anxiety off. And you must be devastated. Had he been unwell for a while?

Oh no, what an awful shock for you. I have a dog and I know I would be devastated if anything happened to her. I've also had cats in the past and I really believe that you do suffer grief when you lose a pet. Yours will be especially hard because it was so sudden.

Take your time and go easy on yourself. You are bound to be feeling rubbish just now.

That's absolutely terrible! I'm so sorry.

In October 2019, I had to put my cat of 15 years down. But she'd had kidney disease for four years, so it was to be expected.

I have a new cat now, and though her personality is different, I love her.
Maybe after a mourning period, you'll consider getting a new dog.

Sorry to hear of the loss of your furry friend. I've been through this a few times and it never gets any easier..

Having a poorly pooch put to sleep is the last act of love we can give to those who've shown us so much love and loyalty over the years..

Just try and take it easy at the moment. You've had a terrible shock and a loss of a loved family member and you need time to come to terms with it...

If you don't believe in an afterlife, just take comfort in that your pooch was very poorly and you've spared him any further suffering..

If you believe in something after death, then maybe try and visualise your pooch doing what they loved to do - chasing rabbits or a tennis ball, or jumping around in the river? I meet up with my deceased pooches on a beach in Wales (in my mind, obvs) Some people might think I'm nuts but it's always comforted me?

You have my heartfelt sympathy and empathy because I know how much this hurts..
