    I'm panicking right now

On Thursday I went to get the vaccine and they rejected me because I was in so much fear. I shouldn't let them but it happened. They advised me to consult with my GP and I wish I didn't listen them.

I went to my GP and there was a girl who had a sore throat, the window was open, also the door and the window of doctor office was open and I waited with her about 5-10 minutes in that small space. She wasn't talking, she had a surgical mask and I had ffp3 very tight sealed. I was near the window but I was walking near her and we were close.

I am the person who works at home and since this all started I didn't go literally anywhere. I am so so scared that I'll be one of those cases where person goes somewhere and catch it despite all.
That's why I've been avoiding doctors.
I am so mad at myself that I let them know that I am in fear and that young doctor was so persisent that I cancel the vaccination. I am obese and maybe she killed me with that advice.
I can't live like this anymore. I was waiting for that vaccine for two hours and now I think it was better that I stayed home.

What are the chances of catching covid in this situation?

Pretty low to be honest but we can't 100% say no but I am sure you will be ok

Should they really have refused you a vaccination because you were anxious Darlene? When I had my two jabs, I told them I had an anxiety disorder and she asked if it was a needle phobia. So I said 'no its social anxiety'. Both times they went through with it. Could you get a nurse come out to your house? They do that here.

I agree with Nicola here, your chances of catching covid in that situation are low IMO.

They shouldn't and I am very sad and mad about that. Older doctor was okay but this younger doctor was telling me that it is better that I come another day because I will get the bad reaction because of fear. She told that older doctor that we need to cancel it and I said okay, it's my fault too. I shouldn't tell them anything, I was hoping they would calm me a little bit but not this.
I will go again but I won't tell them anything this time except if they recognize me and ask.

Thank you both, it really means to me because I am not well right now.

You're very welcome Darlene Its a challenge for us anxiety people living in such uncertain times. I take it they don't offer home visits? That would be ideal in your situation as I'm assuming its the actual going to the vaccine venue that is causing your anxiety, being exposed to people there? If that's your only route, could your GP prescribe you something just for the day?

No, they do not offer anything like that for young and otherwise healthy people (I think they don't offer for older people neither because I saw older people there, I think they offer that only for disabled people who can't come there). Even my GP who vaccinated people before told me that I must go there because he doesn't do that anymore. It was very stressful, waiting with all those people. I forgot to take xanax, maybe that would help.

I'm sorry they didn't let you have it Darlene. That's really not right and I don't think it's right what they said (that panic will make you have a bad reaction to it, it could cause a panic attack but we all know how to get through them!). I don't think you could have caught covid in that way, I think you are fine. What did your dr say?

Yes, it's not right, I shouldn't have told her that I have panic disorder. I asked her about my Hashimoto and wanted to calm myself but she was pointing out that due to my diagnosis I will get the bad reaction of fear. My doctor said that he will call a specialist and ask about Hashimoto so I must call him and see what the specialist said but I think it will be okay because that older doctor there said that I can get the vaccine, that Hashimoto is not a problem. But that younger doctor kept telling her and me to cancel.

I really hope I'll be ok so I can get the vaccine because I can't live in fear of covid anymore, it's destroying me.

With a properly-fitting FFP3 mask in the situation you described, your risk would be as close to zero as it is possible to get. FFP3 masks are used on Covid wards in the UK and have proven effective in reducing infection.

Thank you so much. I have HA my whole life but this fear of getting covid is something else... I hope I'll manage to get the vaccine and I hope it's not too late, I know that I need two doses for full protection.
