    Re: ADHD

I have had the phonecall with my GP who sent me an official ADHD questionnaire to fill in. I filled it in the same morning if the phonecall and submitted it then too.
My GP is going to look for and at my childhood medical records and contact me before Christmas.
I scored below the childhood predictive ADHD score but am glad I’m being taken seriously and hopefully will be able to find out more about my issues in the future. If I have to wait atleast two years, I don’t mind.

I think it's good that you are aware of the long wait but well done for getting the ball rolling and I hope that your GP is supportive re a potential diagnosis.

    Re: ADHD

Incidentally, I came across a historical archived thread on Digital Spy yesterday from 2005 discussing ADHD and the perceptions of said condition being used as an excuse for poor parenting and severe behavioural problems in children.

Quite a few responded with comments about increased awareness of the condition over the preceding decade rather than it actually increasing in prevalence. Autism/ASD was also mentioned in the same thread, plus there were the same remarks about that only starting to be taken more seriously over the preceding decade or so, and that in previous decades people with ADHD, autism, etc, were often ignorantly labelled as naughty, deviant, etc.

All still remains as relevant some 16 years later.

I have been told today that I am going to be referred to be assessed for ADHD. Not sure what to expect and I hope a lot of the assessment can be done online.
