Anyone on here ever had uneven pupils?

Hi guys so abit of a strange one and not one that I’m actually falling off the edge of the world over yet 🤣 so a few weeks back I was doing my mascara ever so carefully in the mirror (a rare event these days anyway me doing makeup) and as I’m looking in the mirror I got a right shock my left pupil is bigger than my right one. Not enormously so but where I could definitely tell. Instant panic surged through me as one of my new dratted fears is of tearing artery in neck. Iv been suffering from neck pain a lot and ended up giving into the Google compulsion and discovered that little gem and really wish I hadn’t. Anyway so from my reading I knew uneven pupils are actually a symptom but I didn’t think much of it actually till I realised I had uneven pupils. I managed to talk myself down and get about with my life but then a few days ago I noticed it again along with some symptoms of sore eyes and a randomly bursting blood vessel in the eye with a larger pupil and it was bothering me so I decided to get an eye health test in opticians and save myself the inner agonising. She was very nice and examined them and did some eye stuff and said they looked perfectly fine to her and the blood vessel bursting in eye was just a random unrelated thing ect ect. I have decided I have to try let it go…Iv just tottered to bathroom from my dark room and looked at myself again in large mirror and this time the size difference was larger than it has been before ! They react both normally to light the size difference is only noticeable when they are like mid size. When they react to light the both shrink to same size. I don’t want to send myself into a tail spin over it and start giving myself aches, pains and weird symptoms that I didn’t have before so does anyone else have this or ever get it and it’s just normal for them ?

I've been down this rabbit hole. Something like 20 percent of the population have uneven pupils, and apparently I'm one of them.

    It's no big deal, promise!

I'm also one of them, benign anascoria. This one comes up on the forum a fair amount as a source of intense fear - its no biggy really. Its is indeed stated that 1/5th of the population have unequal pupils ,it is almost always more noticeable in darker environments.

My left eye has a larger pupil than my right.
I notice it in dimmer lights, I've recently noticed my daughter has it sometimes too in dim light.
I went to the optician about it and he said it's no big deal

Ah thanks guys ! You know what I have never noticed it before until I did! These lar few months have been a bit rough HA anxietywise. I have ran myself through the mill demanding brain scans for an aneurysm the cycling through to my heart, then the bloody dratted artery in my neck ect. Years ago I was diagnosed with ocd. I’m not an obsessive cleaner so I wasn’t even sure about that diagnosis but these days I think I probably do as I have strong compulsions and terrible intrusive thoughts. I have asked to be referred to a psychiatrist. I think I need to start getting a handle on myself again with some assistance.

I do have uneven pupils, it is more noticable when I am tired.
Surprisingly, I never ever worried about it :-)

you know what there might be something to that. I have a terrible sleep pattern and frequently I am exhausted. My youngest is autistic and has a sleep disorder. He’s only 5 and finally fell asleep at 2am. I should be asleep now it’s 3.18am but I am awake and no doubt will be till around 4ish to start my day any time between 8-11am 🤣 I am always tired !

My son has physiological anisocoria. I totally freaked out when I first noticed it, but when we saw an eye specialist, he was like how did you even notice the difference it's tiny!! My husband also has it and his mum never noticed.

Re: Anyone on here ever had uneven pupils?

I recently noticed that my pupils are different sizes. I compared it to photos and this is definitely new. Last week, in a random accident I hit my left eyeball incredibly hard with the edge of a N95 mask that I have to wear at work. I have no idea how it happened but it snapped back and the side got me right in the eyeball, it hurt so bad I almost passed out. I have read an injury can cause uneven pupils, but I'm freaking out. Of course I have read everything about uneven pupils there is to read and I don't have any of the symptoms of the really scary things. They both react to light and darkness and I don't have any vision issues. Sar89 did you ever figure out what was causing yours? Mine are also fine in the light but are different when it isn't as bright. Has anyone experienced something like this? Sar89 do you take medication? In all of my reading I read some medications can actually cause that. I'm not on any medication, so it's not that for me. I'm trying to not panic and at times I think it has to be where I hit it last week and then I go off in a panic.
